چکیده

A flexible and easily configurable software defined transmitter/receiver (TX/RX) architecture is described, which allows the determination of the distorted complex transfer characteristics of a 3 port nonlinear outphasing power amplifier (PA) for application in a WCDMA base station. The TX/RX architecture is capable of generating high precision single sideband signals (SSB) using a DSP algorithm, which is almost insensitive to measurement errors and to the frequency response of the output measurement channel. Based on this an inverse predistortion function for a necessary linearization is calculated and implemented into a FPGA (field programmable gate array) through look-uptables (LUT). The common base band and the differential phase angles are predistorted, resulting in a linearization of the PA.

Power Amplifier Linearization Using Six-port Receiver for DVB-S2 Satellite Communications

A digital look-up table adaptive predistortion technique using a six-port receiver for power amplifier linearization is presented. The system is designed in Ka-band for a DVB-S2 satellite link. We use a six-port receiver at the linearizationloop in place of classic heterodyne receivers. The six-port receiver is implemented by the use of passive microwavecircuits and detector diodes. This approa...

H igh efficiency linear amplification is of great interest in modern communication systems as it increases talk time, decreases power consumption , decreases heat dissipation, and improves reliability. The efficiency of linear power amplifiers (PAs) is highest at the peak output power (PEP) and decreases significantly for low amplitudes, as shown in Figure 1. Signals with time-varying amplitude...

FPGA Implementation of a Hammerstein Based Digital Predistorter for Linearizing RF Power Amplifiers with Memory Effects

Power amplifiers (PAs) are inherently nonlinear elements and digital predistortion is a highly cost-effective approach to linearize them. Although most existing architectures assume that the PA has a memoryless nonlinearity, memory effects of the PAs in many applications ,such as wideband code-division multiple access (WCDMA) or orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM), can no longer b...

Statement On The Contribution

Modern digital communication systems utilize OFDM and DS-CDMA signals because of their superior spectral efficiency and multiple access properties respectively. Examples of such systems include digital television (DVB-T), digital radio (DAB) and 3 Generation mobile (WCDMA). A downside to using these signals however is the need to accommodate their very high Crest Factor, also known as Peak-to-A...
